Digital Arts and Humanities Studies

In this line, research about the Arts and Human Sciences, in general, is located; dialogue between the human sciences, artistic schools and analysis of literary works, to solve problems related to technological and digital infrastructure, work protocols and technical and academic tools that will be implemented in the execution of projects. This also allows us to characterize models of knowledge generation, transfer, translation and dissemination.

Ethnic Diversity and Culture, Rights and Public Policies
 

It includes research on the characteristics and particularities of the different collectivities and communities that make up the territory of Abya Yala, with emphasis on those based on ethnicity, such as indigenous peoples, Afro peoples, Raizales, and Roma people, as well as other groups and sectors. social that build collective imaginaries and common identities based on the territory, such as LGBTIQ+ communities; gender and sexualities; the age of the populations; linguistic and aesthetic codes; media representations; entertainment; cultural consumption; and participation in virtual social networks.

Other topics included are: interculturality, pluralism, multiculturalism; the re-ethnicization, hybridization and fusion of memories; life plans and future projects; the reconstruction, redefinition, simulation and invention of new collective identities; the radicalization of the demands for territorial and political autonomy of ethnic groups and the actions and reactions of other sectors of the population and the States; positive discrimination, its scope, effects and impacts, as well as the reactions it provokes;  the conversion of culture and material and intangible cultural heritage into resources, merchandise and exchange value (cultural industries).

Communication, Information and Culture
 

This line includes research on interdisciplinary approaches to the phenomena of information, communication and mass media, in sociocultural, historical and psychosocial perspectives; convergence of different forms of communication and media; international communication; communication and culture; information and governance; mass media and conflict; mass media and civil society; impact of ICT; the culture of public opinion; nationality rituals; visual comunication; historical memory; popular culture; culture, communication and education.

Social Studies about Science, Technology and other Forms of Knowledge
 

This field of social studies is aimed at investigating the various knowledge systems and knowledge existing in the Abya Yala and Ibero-American territory, as well as characterizing models of generation, transfer, translation and dissemination of knowledge.

It also includes studies on institutional arrangements and policies to promote research and innovation; controversies and risks generated by the processes of generation and use of knowledge; democratization of science and technology; and social participation in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of public policies in science, technology and innovation.
